Conserving Your Personal Energy

Every day we’re barraged with what doesn’t work. With what is going wrong. Or threatening to go wrong.

Once upon a cave, noticing “the negative” was an important proclivity, but now that we’ve moved out of ‘fight or flight’ survival, we are relying on our attitudes more to create our lives. To do that, we need to constantly modulate our attitudes so we keep our energy flowing and positive.

Here is a short video by Martin Seligman, the author of many books on Optimism and happiness, that describes a great new energy modulating habit that will help you keep your energy vibrant and alive.

ENERGY OFFER!

But just before we get to the video, I want to tell you about something that might interest you. As most of you know, I just finished the “Manage Your Energy, Master Your Life” Telesummit which was fantastic. At the end of it, I offered an hour long individual coaching session that I titled, “Your Ultimate Energy” at a reduced price for those that wanted to do more individual work with me. .

During this 1-to-1 session, I used a process called “Inner Relationship Focusing” to help people attune deeply to their own energy centres and overall energy field. It was exciting to me to guide people to experience for themselves the strengths and weaknesses of each of their energy centres or chakras, as well as explore areas that were stagnant, blocked or leaking energy. Once we had a deeper sense of what was going on, I gave them tools for deeply listening and healing their own energy.

The sessions were awesome to do and I got GREAT feedback about them! Now I want to give you, my faithful readers, the same opportunity to experience this, at the same reduced offer,  if you want to. So, here’s the deal: One hour long 1-to-1 session for what I think is an incredible rate–$55. You can take me up on this offer even if you’re currently one of my clients, BUT, I’m only making this offer to 10 people so if you’re interested, don’t sit on your hands!

That’s it! Master YOUR energy so you can create what YOU want in 2012~ Here’s a video that will help you do that!

Energy!

ENERGY!!!

ENERGY is our most precious commodity.

When we have energy and that energy is positive and

lush and lively, we can do almost anything. We can even

overcome problems more easily!

When we don’t have energy, or that energy is slow and/or

negative, we really can’t do much.

Change Your Energy and Change Your Life!

In all my 30 years of coaching, helping people to change their

energy is really what I do. I use a lot of different techniques and I’ve

been putting them together into a course I’ll tell you more about

next week. (It’s a 40-day online course with audios,videos,

meditations, visualizations, tapping procedures & MORE for changing

energy.)

Changing Energy

Let me share a really simple tool for modulating your energy right

now. But first, pick a number between 1 and 10 that describes where

your energy is before you do it, then check again after so you can

test the change. I’m asking you to do this because this particular

exercise is simple. yet is will expand the state of your energy field

and make it more positive.

To try it, click the link HERE

I’ll tell you more next week!

Inner Peace

Posted by: | Comments (1)

Inner Peace:

With the holiday season coming up, it’s time to set your course for Inner Peace. To me, this is such a special time of year, but we often miss it because we get eaten up by the Grinchs of busyness and buying.

BUT–it doesn’t have to be that way. YOU get to decide. You get to choose how you feel. Decide to invite Inner Peace into your heart and mind this holiday season.

The ‘Symptoms’ of Inner Peace:

You’ll know you’re on track if you notice any of the following ‘symptoms’.

  • A tendency to think & act spontaneously (rather than from fears based on past experience).
  • An unmistakable ability to enjoy each moment.
  • Loss of interest in judging yourself or anyone else.
  • Loss of interest in conflict.
  • Disinclination to worry (this is a very serious symptom).
  • Frequent overwhelming episodes of appreciation.
  • Connected feelings of connectedness with others & nature.
  • Frequent attacks of smiling through the eyes of the heart
  • Increasing susceptibility to extend love to others.
  • Increasing tendency to let things happen rather
    than make them happen.

To keep these ‘symptoms alive and well:

  • hang out with children.
  • give in any and every way.
  • listen to the promptings of your heart.
  • appreciate often and for no reason.
  • LOVE ANYWAY!

You CAN have the holiday experience you long for. Decide now! Inner Peace is an inside job!

Note: I just heard from a woman named Saskia Davis, the author or ‘Symptoms Of Inner Peace”. When I first saw this article, it was just floating around the Internet and didn’t have an author attribution. Now that I know who actually wrote it, I want to say a big Thanks to Saskia and refer people to her website which can be reached by clicking here:

Energy Depletion

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Here’s a conversation that exemplifies energy depletion:

I was listening to someone the other day tell me how awful their job was. And how she suffered from energy depletion. She went on and on (and on) about how terrible her job was.

So I asked her. “What’s good about it?”

“Nothing!”  she asserted.

“Does it pay you?” I asked.

“Of course!”

“Do you like getting that pay?”

She could tell I was going somewhere with my questioning and gave me a suspicious look.

“Yeah, I like the pay.”

“How about benefits? Does it give you benefits?”

She gave me a begrudging nod.

“Bet you could come up with 5 more things you like about your job too, if you worked at it.”

“Why would I bother doing that?”  she asked.

That led to a longer conversation and the acquisition of a new client, which was great. But, basically, what I told her was this: the brain is predisposed to look for what doesn’t work. That was necessary in the jungle in order to anticipate problems.

How To Avoid Energy Depletion

Nowadays, however, having energy is our most important commodity. Looking for what works gives us energy. Focusing on what isn’t working is a sure recipe for energy depletion.

So if you want a great way to top up your energy, flip the game board on something you’ve been negative about and actively LOOK for what you like. This has the power to flip any energy depletion you may be suffering from. And changing your energy will make you feel powerful and in charge.

Try it. Having energy is crucial to creating your life, especially your BEST LIFE. Learning to change the habits of energy depletion is something we all can do, just by changing our focus!

Take Charge of Your Health!

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Your Health –Take Charge!

Your health is important –taking charge of it yourself is a wise thing to do. Particularly these days, when both Canada and the US rank so low for life expectancy! (The latest study published in Health Affairs revealed that the United States now ranks 49th for male and female life expectancy worldwide.)

That’s a big fall from the fifth place ranking the US had in 1950. If that isn’t discouraging, add in the fact that U.S. per capita health spending rose at nearly twice the rate of other developed countries between 1970 and 2002.

What’s more, three of the “big killers” — obesity, traffic accidents and murder — cannot explain the United States’ dismal life expectancy data, as other countries have similar death rates from these factors.

Your Health Should Not Rely on Drugs!

Many are speculating that this is a result of the fact that the medical system relies on drugs and surgery to treat illness, rather than focusing on prevention and wellness.

It doesn’t help that the U.S. now ranks last out of 19 countries for unnecessary deaths, deaths that could have been avoided through timely and effective medical care. For example, more than 2 millions Americans are now affected by hospital acquired infections EVERY YEAR and 100,000 people die as a result. It’s not uncommon for people to go into the hospital for a “routine” medical procedure, only to contract a severe hospital-acquired infection or drug reaction or other medication mishap.

Ten years ago, Professor Bruce Pomerance of the University of Toronto concluded that properly prescribed and correctly taken pharmaceutical drugs were the fourth leading cause of death in the US. Yikes! This statistic alone should get you taking charge of Your Health!

Your Health–The Good News

So that’s the bad news. But there’s tremendous GOOD NEWS. The good news is this: YOU are in CONTROL of your health. So take that control. Don’t believe that exercise and eating right are just positive things to do. They’re required for good health.

And now, thanks to Youtube (http://www.youtube.com), you can take any kind of cooking class and exercise program over the Internet.

So, take action charge of Your Health now–while you still have the option!

Happiness and Music

We all want Happiness:

Here’s a sweet video for you about Happiness. It’s just a few minutes long.

I like it because it shows how ‘happiness’ can be there even in circumstances where we wouldn’t think it might be! (Which is just another ‘story’ the mind tells us.)

Happiness is Always There:

You can use videos like this (there are hundreds on YouTube) to flip the game board of your own mind when it tells you something should ‘make’ you unhappy. Happiness is ALWAYS an inside story. And it’s yours to write!!

The video is s inspiring! To view it, click HERE:

And, just to let you know, I’m in the final stages of writing my new online course, How to Have Big, Beautiful Energy, Even When you feel Small and Frumpy! You’ll be one of the first to know when it goes ‘live’!

Every blessing to you! Be Happy!

A Funny Story About Awareness:

A lecturer teaching medicine was tutoring a class that involved observation and awareness. He took out a jar of yellow-colored liquid.

“This”, he explained, “is urine. To be a doctor, you have to be observant to color, smell, sight, and taste.”

After saying this, he dipped his finger into the jar and put it in his mouth. His class watched in amazement, most, in disgust. He passed the jar around. Eager to be good students, as the jar made its rounds, one by one, each student dipped one finger into the jar and then put it into their mouth.

After the last student was done, the lecturer shook his head:

“If any of you had been observant, you would have noticed that I put my second finger into the jar and my third finger into my mouth.”

: )

Awareness and the Big Picture:

Now that I’ve got you smiling, I want to point something out. The students got fixated on the shock of what their prof was doing and stopped observing. That’s what we all do. We notice the shocking, the awful, the bad stuff and lose our awareness of everything else.

As I’ve mentioned before, the brain has a propensity to notice what’s wrong–that’s a defense mechanism from when we lived in caves and had to be on the alert for sounds and sights that could mean danger.

These days, however, we need to balance that brain tendency by keeping our awareness on what’s good –otherwise we’ll lose perspective and get depressed. With 1 in 4 people suffering from depression in our culture, it’s crucial that we keep a balanced point of view. So, today, ask yourself a few times, “What’s good in my life?” Or, “What’s good right now?”

Awareness and the Search for Good:

This question will lead your brain to find good things. And when it does, you’ll feel happier. And feeling happier creates health–in our bodies, in our work place and in our  relationships.Besides, happier people live longer! So, use your awareness for a richer and longer life.

Accepting ‘What Is’

Posted by: | Comments (2)

Here’s a great quote from Eckhart Tolle on Accepting ‘What Is’ ….

“The shift in consciousness happens the moment you say ‘yes’ to what is, because the entire structure of the egoic mind-made self lives on resistance and opposition and on making the now into an enemy.” Eckhart Tolle.

Contemplating this quote takes me back to time when my father was dying. He had throat cancer and I spent a lot of energy being in an emotional turmoil about it, resisting/resenting the fact of his illness as strongly as I could. I spent a lot of time reading about his illness, researching options etc.  It was exhausting.

Accepting ‘What Is’ is Powerful

Then I remember one day, just lying down and letting myself accept that he was so ill. Instead of this being hugely depressing and emotional, I was shocked at the calm it brought.  From then on, I still did lots of his behalf, but the energy was completely different–I moved from a place of lovingness for him, not from any fight or drive for a specific outcome. After all, who was I to say what my father’s life was about?

Acceptance is a choice!

It’s a powerful thing to know you can let something be. It reaffirms that you are big enough. That you have what it takes to simply abide.  Simply abiding is what all great people learn to do. They abide until the right moment comes, then they take action with great skill. They can do this because they haven’t wasted all their energy reacting here, there and every where.

Try it. Accepting ‘What Is’ will help you move with the flow of life.

Snapshots of Happiness

Posted by: | Comments (1)

I am exploring tools and techniques for experiencing happiness more. Here’s one I am working with. Try it and see how it works for you. It’s a bit similar to the ‘FreezeFrame’ technique the HeasrtMath people have developed, but this one has a different focus.

Here’s how it goes.

When you are experiencing something pleasant, take an “sensograph” or “energy photograph” of how the event feels in your body. For example, this morning when I was in the shower, I took a “sensograph” of the experience of it in that moment. I heard the pounding sound of the water as it hit my shower cap,  I felt the warm water sluicing down my back and arms and how it moved along my hands and fingers, I noticed the feeling of the hot water dribbling down my right ankle and the easy, happy feeling in my belly as all this was happening.

Once I had all the details in focus, I kind of ‘snapped the picture of it by taking in a long slow breath and breathing it into my memory. I know it’s still there because now, when I close my eyes, I can relive it. Just like one can relive a photograph.

I’d love some comment if anyone gives this a try!

CIGARETTES AND HAPPINESS

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Which do you think takes more years off your life? Cigarette smoking or being unhappy?

When I first was asked this question, I thought the answer would be cigarette smoking–after all, in the last few years, the media has been hammering us with all the nefarious facts of just how unhealthy cigarette smoking is.

But, as you’ve probably guessed by now, being happy is the horse to bet on. Recent studies have shown that although cigarette smoking will take 3 years off your life, being unhappy will take a full 9 years off your life! That’s six more years!

To my way of thinking, who cares if you live longer if you’re not happy anyway? It’s like having a fridge full of the flavour of ice cream you don’t care for… so what?

So, there are two important facts here…. being happy not only will extend your life significantly but it will make those years far more satisfying.

May you be happy!
